Squires, Lillian Mae (November 10, 1895 - January 20, 1981)

Lillian Mae Squires, age 85, Merrillan, died January 20, 1981, at the Black River Memorial Hospital.

Lillian was born at Sylvan, WI, November 10, 1895, to Raymond and Caroline (Hayden) Payne and married Albert Squires at Rochester, MN, September 13, 1915. They had farmed in the Humbird and Merrillan areas.

She is survived by five sons, Leland, Gerald, and Shirlee, all of Beloit; Francis of Longview, WA; and Donovan of Arlington, WI; three daughters, Wanda Schmidt, Rochester, MN; Geraldine Matti, Humbird; and Genevieve Shanks, Lake Delton; two sisters, Mrs. Dessa Short, Neillsville and Mrs. Leah Braaton, Kokomo, IN; 28 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held January 23, 1981, from the Merrillan Methodist Church with the Rev. Calvin Carey officiating. Burial was in the East Lawn Cemetery at Alma Center. The Jenson Funeral home, Hixton, was in charge of the arrangements.
