Miss Kate M. Gwin passed away very suddenly Saturday night, Oct. 2, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Balch, where she had lived for the past three months. She had been in poor health for about three years, but had been able to be about the house.
Miss Gwin was born in Loyal and grew to womanhood there. She became a very successful teacher and for about 25 years taught in the public schools of Marshfield. She was a lady of rare refinement and culture.
She is survived by a sister, Mrs. H. V. Gard of Superior, and a nephew, Gwin A. Whitney of New York City.
Brief services were held Tuesday afternoon at Schiller’s Funeral Home, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating. Burial took place in the Loyal Cemetery.
