Hook, Horace W. (4 March 1853 - 25 Nov. 1937)
Horace W. Hook, son of John and Lovina Hook, was born in LaFayette County March 4, 1853.
When he was four years of age his parents moved to Richland County, where he lived until 20 years ago. Coming to Clark County, he purchased a farm in the town of York, which remained his home until two years ago, when went to Granton to make his home with Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Oldham, passing away Nov. 25, 1937, after an illness of about three weeks.
Mr. Hook was married to Ada A. Ewers in 1896, who died in 1899. One daughter was born to this union, the little girl passing away in 1900.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. W. H. Shilts, of this city and the following nieces and nephews: Mrs. Albert Schultz, Mrs. Wm. Ewers, Neillsville; Mrs. Wm. Coler, Shortville; Mrs. Edward Tyler, La Crosse; Mrs. Florence Minnie, Prairie du Chien; Mrs. Ella Daivs, Mason City, Ia.; Mrs. Cal Griffin, Seattle, Wash.; Elwood Ewers, Richland Center, A. M. Bailey, Boaz, Wis.
Deceased was a good man, a member of the United Bretheren church and was always willing to help those in need or in distress and will be greatly missed by his relatives and friends. The remains will be laid to rest in the Conkle Cemetery near Boaz, beside his wife and daughter.
