Makovec, Mary Agnes (Nov. 22, 1917 - July 12, 2006)
OWEN -- Mary Makovec, 88, Owen, formerly of Colby, died Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen, where she had resided since May of 2006. She had resided at the Angelus Retirement Community in Colby since 2000.
The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2006, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen, Wis.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Withee.
Visitation with family and friends will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2006, at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen, Wis. There will be a combined Parish and Parish Council of Catholic Women rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mary Agnes Seliskar was born Nov. 22, 1917, in the rural Greenwood-Willard area to Gregor and Agnes (Jamnik) Seliskar. Mary and Frank M. Makovec were united in marriage on Nov. 17, 1945, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard. Frank died April 5, 2002. They farmed in the town of Green Grove for 27 years retiring in 1973 and then moved to Owen, Wis.
Surviving are her children, Gerald "Gerry" Makovec, Marshfield, and Margaret "Margie" (Barry) Sain, Glasgow, Mont.; one granddaughter and two great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
