YORK, May 7th.

John Free lost his house by fire caused by the explosion of a lamp, John was at home alone at the time. He had lighted the lamp and placed it on the table, and had gone to the barn to feed the team. Was not out over ten minutes when he saw the light of the fire in the windows. Help soon arrived. They could see the broken glass of the lamp scattered around. This is the second fire in a little over two years. The house was insured in the Lynn Mutual Insurance Company. Loss estimated at $1078. Insurance $558.

Miss Alice Darton, of Beaver, is teaching school in District No. 1.

Miss Bertha Hallock, of the Windfall, has charge of the children of District No. 3.

Mr. Ward Richardson has let his farm to a Mr. Bart, from Neenah.
