Johnson, Anne E.G. (4 JAN 1917)

(Superior Telegram)

On Thursday evening, Jan. 4, 1917, at 6 o’clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arvid Lundberg in Minneapolis, Miss Anne Eugenia G. Johnson and Rev. August G. Sommer, both of Frederic, were united in the holy bonds of wedlock. Rev. Prof. C.D. Abbetmeyer, PhD., of St. Paul, officiated. The wedding ceremony was performed in a room decorated with greens and pink roses. The bride wore a flesh color georgette crepe gown, trimmed with silver. The groom wore blue serge. Ruth M. Johnson acted as maid of honor and Herman A.C. Hahn as best man. After the ceremony a wedding dinner was served. The couple left for an extended wedding trip.

Both the bride and groom are very favorably known in this village and community. The bride has been reared here and is a pleasant young lady, highly respected by all who know her. The groom is a young man who came to Frederic three years ago from Springfield, Ill., with the ministry as his calling. He is well educated and fitted for his work and during his time here has worked with apparent success. He is at present pastor of one local Immanuel Lutheran Church, and the congregation in Loraine. A year ago the people of the Lewis community called him to also take charge of the services in the beautiful new church erected in Lewis. Besides, he works in the Markville, Danbury and Webster communities and is well known as a missionary from Frederic to Superior. The couple will return at the end of the week and will reside in the Grimm bungalow on the west side.
