Stockwell, Helen (1869? - 3 Feb. 1938)

Mrs. Cyrus D. (Helen Pickering) Stockwell passed away at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire Thursday afternoon following an illness of about a year. She was 68 years old. Mr. Stockwell is superintendent of the Omaha railroad, and they have lived at Eau Claire for about ten years.

She came to Clark County with her parents when she was a small child, settling in the town of Sherwood. Here she grew to young womanhood. She was outstanding in character and beauty and was execeptionally well fitted for her chosen profession, teaching.

She was married to Cyrus Dewitt Stockwell, who was then station agent at Granton. Two children were born to them, Cyrus George, now road master of Spooner, and Bernice, Mrs. M. Selvig of Eau Claire.

Mrs. Stockwell’s life was replete with love and kindness. She was widely known for her Christian acts. A huge spray of lilies completely covered her casket, and the minister who conducted the rites likened the character of the deceased to these pure white blossoms.

Mrs. Stockwell, leaves, beside her husband and children, three grandsons, Dewitt, George Allen, and Cyrus David Selvig; and the following sisters and brothers; Mrs. Edith Wilson of Minneapolis; Mrs. Watts of the state of Montana; Myron Pickering of Ada, Minn.; Earl and Allen Pickering of Sheldon, and Mrs. S. Hansen of Spooner.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Eau Claire, Rev. Fred J. Jordan of the M. E. Church of that city officiating. Mrs. Lottie Baer of this city, a sister-in-law, attended the rites.

I have a charcoal picture with the name Helen Stockwell 1932 on the bottom. The picture is of about a two year old very charming child and I was curious about the name.
