William J. "Bill" Baumgartner, 77, Wickenburg, Ariz., passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Saturday, July 15, 2006, in Phoenix, Ariz. A memorial service was held 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, at the First Presbyterian Church, Wickenburg. A graveside service was held at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary and Cemetery, Phoenix.

William James Baumgartner was born in 1928, in Marshfield, to Harry and Margaret Baumgartner. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1946, and served in Korea until 1948. In 1949, he married Carol Jean Lindow, in Chili. In 1969, they moved from Wisconsin to Scottsdale, Ariz. In 1978, he moved to Wickenburg and made it his home town for the last 28 years. He was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church, Wickenburg, where he served as an elder and deacon.

Survivors include his daughter, Mary Baungartner (Mark) Clark; four grandchildren, April, Sabrina, Nolan and Christopher; one great-granddaughter, Taylor Nichole; two sisters, Joyce (Jerry) Wagner and Mae (Rueben) Frome; a sister-in-law, Ardith (Frank) Arbelousky; sister-in-law, Nancy Baumgartner; 13 nieces and nephews; and 14 great-nieces and great nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Carol, in 1995; a daughter, Linda, in 1957; a son, Larry, in 1963; and his brother, Wayne, in 1991.
