Tieman, Maybelle E. (April 19, 1926 - March 16, 2006)
Maybelle E. Tieman, age 79, of 702 N. Franklin St. Stanley, WI passed away on March 16, 2006, under the wonderful care of St. Joseph’s Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 19, 1926 in Ladysmith, WI the daughter of Arthur and Sally (Bell) Rasmussen. She grew up attending area schools and graduating from Ladysmith High School. She then moved to Stanley in search of employment. She later met Earl Tieman and they were united in marriage on March 15, 1947 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran parsonage. They have lived in Stanley since. Maybelle worked for the Stanley Republican for many years working at various positions and was especially known for being sports editor with a great love for covering Stanley-Boyd football. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Besides her love for her family in which she had a special place for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she enjoyed her Green Bay Packers and most of all the summers at the Lake of the Pines where she gained so many friends throughout the years. She will also be remembered for her sewing and being a great cook.
She is survived by her husband Earl of Stanley, WI; one daughter, Sally (Clifford) Licht of Eagle, WI; two sons, Michael of Port Orchard, WA and David (Julie) of Owen, WI; plus seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two stepsisters: Yvonne (Ray) Woods of Thorp, WI and Pat (Ron) Salter of New Auburn, WI and stepbrother Robert Jenness of Ladysmith, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Ryan and two brothers and two sisters: both Robert & Karen Rasmussen and Thomas & Barbara Rasmussen and both Patricia & Dave Tonnancour and Lorraine & Tom Wheeler.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 27, 2006 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Thorp, WI at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Daniel Welch officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Inurnment of Cremains will be at the Lake of the Pines at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to be given to St. Joseph’s Hospice, Stanley Historical Society or the American Cancer Society.
