Jewett, Eliza S. (22 Feb. 1833 - 12 Jan. 1904)

Mrs. Eliza S Jewett

It becomes our duty to chronicle the death of Mrs. Eliza S Jewett, which occurred Thursday, Jan 13 at the home of her son, Geo. in the town of Brighton.

For a week prior to her death she was ill with LaGrippe. Wednesday she grew worse and continued to fail until Thursday morning when her spirit departed to join the loved ones that have gone before.

Eliza Hilton was born in Erie Co., New York on Feb. 22, 1838 making her age at the time of her death almost 72 years.

She removed to Chilton, Wisconsin in the year of 1849, In 1851 she was united in marriage to George Jewett, Sr. of Chilton, to them four children were born, three of whom are still living. The husband died in 1873.

Eleven years later the widow and children removed to the town of Brighton where she resided until her death with the exception of a few years spent in Washington. She was a home loving woman yet she always found time to be neighborly. She will be sadly missed by a large circle of friends.

Two sons, George and Layton of the town of Brighton and Mrs. Alice Lowe of Idaho survive her.

The funeral was held from the M. E. Church Saturday afternoon, Rev. James conducted the services.
