Hemp, Otto (1857 - 24 June 1938)
Otto Hemp passed away at his home at Augusta, June 24, 1938, at the age of 81 years and 5 days.
Mr. Hemp was born at Brendenberg, Germany in 1857. He came to America in 1871 with his parents and settled in Jefferson County. He came to Clark County in 1875 and a few years later he moved to Augusta, where he resided permanently and made his home. In 1883 he was married to Miss Rhode Howe and to them were born four children, James, Ira, Fred and Clarence, and the son Ira preceded his father in death 29 years ago, and while visiting his sons at Bellingham, Wash., four years ago; his wife passed away. He farmed all his life and was a hard worker, kind and honest.
Besides the three sons, he laves to mourn his death, 3 brothers, Albert, Frank, and Anton, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Grap.
Funeral services were held on Monday at Augusta and the remains were laid to rest beside his wife and son.
