Johnson, Eunice (October 6, 1913 - May 31, 2006)

Eunice Johnson, age 92, died Wednesday afternoon May 31, 2006 at her home in Rapid River, Michigan.

Eunice was born October 6, 1913 in Thorp, WI, the daughter of Mark and Anna Louisa (Furman) Wohld. She was raised in Thorp and attended and graduated from the Thorp High School. Eunice married Russell Johnson on her eighteenth birthday in Thorp on October 6, 1931, and together the couple made their home and raised their family in Owen, WI. Eunice worked primarily throughout her life, as a homemaker raising her family and keeping her home. Russell preceded her in death on January 7, 1975. Eunice relocated to Delta County in 1996 and resided in the Rapid River, MI area for the past 10 years. Eunice was extensively involved in the Rapid River Senior Center and enjoyed weaving and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include one son, Jack (Louise) Johnson of East Troy, WI and two daughters, Beverly Phillips of Wild Rose, WI and Lou Ann (Dwight) Seger of Rapid River, MI. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mark and Anna Louisa and her husband Russell, Eunice was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and her great-granddaughter, Rochelle Horwitz.

Family received friends on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Thorp Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating the life of Eunice Johnson followed visitation at the Thorp Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Welch of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church officiating. Committal followed in the Riverside Cemetery in Withee, WI, and a luncheon followed at the Owen Golf Course.
