Young, Betty Jean (3 March 1929 –* 9 July 1938) *Could be off.
Betty Jean Young, nine-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Young, died Saturday morning at 3:15 o’clock at the Sacred Heart hospital in Eau Claire, where she had been a patient since June 21, when she was operated on for the removal of a ruptured appendix. The surgeons found, upon operation that the appendix was on the left side. This, with other complications, caused her death. Betty Jean was born March 3, 1929, in the town of Grant and has lived there her entire life. She attended public school and would have entered the fourth grade this fall. She was a favorite with her playmates.
The funeral was held Monday at 2 o’clock from the Gilbertson funeral home, with the Rev. Arthur Laesch officiating clergyman. The pallbearers were Howard Finnegan, Curtiss Marg, Gene Turner, Robert Spry, Clarence and Erwin Gilbertson. Flower girls were Dolores Storm, Betty Gilbertson and Pearle Rose Washburn, all classmates. Surviving relatives are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Young, and one sister, Dorothy, age 4.
