Abegglen, Christian G. (23 JUL 1899 - 30 OCT 1936)

Christian Gottlieb Abegglen was born on July 23, 1899 at Stetsonville, Wis., and died at Marshfield Hospital October 30th. Cause of his death being pneumonia.

Mr. Abegglen was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church, Stetsonville. He attended the grade school in the Town of Deer Creek, Taylor County and attended Northwestern College at Watertown for several years.

The deceased, a cheesemaker by trade, came to Riplinger 12 years ago. On June 10, 1925 he was united in marriage to Magda Paulson of Stetsonville. To this union was born three children: James 10, Norma 7, and Dorothy 3.

Surviving besides his wife and three children are his father Ernest Abegglen, four brothers Albert, Henry, Edward and ernest; and two sisters, Bertha and Ida Abegglen all of Stetsonville. His mother, Elizabeth Abegglen and two brothers Hans and Walyer preceded him in death.

Pall bearers were Gaylord Pipkorn, John Noth, Leo Domer, Edward Prien, Henry Miller and Wm. Rohr, Jr.

Honorary pall bearers were Emil Martin, Spencer; Robert Reitz, Marshfield; Ludwig Johnson, Granton; William Breseman, Granton; Richard Gotter, Loyal; Joseph Prien, Riplinger and fellow officers of the C.W.B.D.A. Association.

Mr. Abegglen was very active in his vocation being Vice President of the Central Wisconsin Cheese and Buttermakers Dairy Advancement Association. He was also a member of the Soo Grove School board of Riplinger.

There were many floral tributes given and also one Memorial was given to the American Lutheran Church for the cause of Missions by the patrons and business men of Riplinger.

Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were: Mr. Ernest Abegglen, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Albert Abegglen and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Abegglen, Jr., Henry, Edward, and Ida Abegglen, Mrs. Henry Paulson, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Paulson all of Stetsonville, Wis., Mrs. J. C. Ludowise and son Robert of Cadott, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Holz, Shawano, Wis., Mr. and Mrs.. Henry Paulson, Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Susan Amacher, Mrs. Fred Amacher and daughter Dorothy and son Frederick and a host of friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P. M. on November 2, at the Lutheran Church in Riplinger, of which he was a member, Rev. W. Gamb, of Veefkind officiating. He was laid to rest in the Cemetery in Stetsonville.

Christ will be sadly missed in the home he has left, in the neighborhood where he lived, and by all who knew him. The large number of friends attending his funeral proved the high esteem in which he was held.
