Eckes, William (1896? - 16 Sept. 1938)
William Eckes, 42, of Marshfield, brother of Mrs. Roy Montgomery of this city, passed away instantly at 2:15 a.m. September 16 when his car was overturned near Spencer.
Mr. Eckes was educated in the public and catholic schools of Marshfield and served during the world war. He was seriously wounded in France and was in a hospital there for six months. Rheumatism set in and last spring the leg so affected was broken, and he had not fully re-covered from the accident when he was fatally injured.
For four months Mr. Eckes had made his home with the Montgomery family and during his stay here became quite well acquainted about the city.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Eckes, Marshfield and by three sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services at Remb’s Funeral home, the Roy Montgomery family being in attendance, Monday.
