Dill, Gilbert N. (20 JAN 1915 - 16 AUG 2006)
Gilbert N. "Gib" Dill, 91, Rock Dam, died at the Clark County Health Care Center, Owen, on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006. Funeral services were held on Monday, Aug. 21, at Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood. The Rev. James Mohr officiated and burial followed in the Greenwood City Cemetery.
Gilbert Norbert Dill was born on Jan. 20, 1915, in Greenwood, to Julius and Lydia (nee Kuester) Dill. He was raised and educated in the Greenwood area. After completing his education, he worked with his father at the livery stable, Greenwood, cut and hauled firewood, and cut ice on the Black River during winters. He later went to Albert Lea, Minn., and worked in the onion fields for a few years. He then moved and settled in Granton and worked at Pioneer Container, Cedarburg, for many years. He retired in 1974, and moved to Rock Dam, where he lived until entering the Clark County Health Care Center in November 2004. He had many interests, but especially enjoyed auctions and collecting antiques.
Survivors include one sister, Beulah Matkovich, Willard; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; five brothers, Leo, Harvey, Gottlieb, Henry and Norbert Dill; three sisters, Alberta Thomas, Julia Mitte, and Anita Abel.
Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
