Phillips, Ella (4 Oct. 1858 - 30 Oct. 1938)

Ella Mott was born October 4, 1858, at Elgin, Illinois, and when a small child, she moved with her parents to Leon, Monroe County, Wisconsin, where she grew to womanhood.

On October 4, 1877, she was married to James A. Phillips. To this union, one daughter was born. In 1905 the family moved from Merrillan to Neillsville, Wis.

Her husband preceded her in death in the year of 1920, and her daughter, Lulu May, died in 1927.

September 1, 1935, Mrs. Phillips went to Jackson, Tenn., to make her home with her brother, W. L. Mott, where she passed away Friday, October 30, 1938.

Funeral services were held at Griffin’s Chapel, Jackson, and the body was brought to Neillsville by her brother, and laid at rest in the family lot, following brief Eastern Star services at Schiller’s Funeral Home.

Mrs. Phillips had many friends in Neillsville where she was a member of the Christian Science church, Eastern Star Chapter and the Beaver Lodge. Mr. Phillips also doing much for this city in civic way.

She is survived by her niece, Mrs. Wm. Horton of Levis Township, and in her immediate family by a sister, Mrs. Mary Upton, Concord, New Hampshire, the brother, Mr. Mott, and several nieces and nephews.
