Observe Birthdays
A birthday dinner was given Sunday in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Otto F. Walter, who have completed 94 and 83 years respectively, both in fairly good health.
Present for the occasion were: Mr. and Mrs. Max Lange of St. Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Walter and son, Leslie of Grant, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Degener.
Mrs. Albert Walter furnished a birthday cake containing 94 candles. Mr. Walter is probably the oldest person living in Neillsville and vicinity. He came to this part of the county in 1870 and bought a piece of wild land in the town of Grant, which he developed into a good farm though hard labor, adding to his holdings during the course of years.
Mrs. Walter came here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Schoengarth about the same time. Mr. and Mrs. Walter were married in 1873 almost 65 years ago. In the fall of 1914 they sold their farm and came to Neillsville, where they bought the Wiesner house which has been their home since. Of their seven children, five are still living who, with grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great grandchild- five generations are wishing them happiness.
