Selisnick, Mary (1919? - 19 APR 1932)
The residence on the farm of Suda Bros., in south Green Grove (Clark Co., Wis.) was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning. The fire originated when a 12 year old girl, Mary Selisnick, who was staying at the farm home, poured kerosene into the stove. Mr. and Mrs. Suda were out at the barn, leaving two children, ages one and three, in Mary’s care. The girl spilled kerosene on her dress as she attempted to build the fire. The fire caught on her dress and she dashed outside, her clothing ablaze.
The girl was taken to the hospital at Marshfield, where she died during the evening.
Joe Suda, Jr., rushed into the house as soon as the fire was discovered. He was burned quite badly about the head and suffered several broken ribs in his escape from the burning building. The two small children in Mary’s care were rescued.
