Sylvester L. Tasse

Sylvester L. Tasse, 85, of 205 W. 28th St., died on Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, at the Palliative Care Unit of Saint Joseph's Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Peter Manickam as principal celebrant and the Rev. Dick Pankratz as the homilist.

Suzanne Golden will be the organist along with John F. Binder and James W. Eckes as the vocalists.

Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery with Travis and Troy Kumm, Dean Jagielo and Nicholas, Ronald and Tom Tasse serving as the pallbearers.

Visitations will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home and again on from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. There will be a combined parish and Knights of Columbus rosary service at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Sylvester was born on March 16, 1921, in Marshfield to Ben and Nellie (Steffen) Tasse. He attended St. Mary's Parochial School in Bakerville and was united in marriage to Lorraine M. Hensler on Jan. 13, 1946, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Bakerville.

He worked for the Wood County Highway Department for three years. He was then employed for the city of Marshfield Street Department and retired from Hub City Foods, now Fleming Foods, working there from 1966 until 1986.

Sylvester was a 50-year member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church; honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, John Eisen Council 1799; member of UCT; Catholic Knights of Wisconsin and Catholic Family Life Insurance Society.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; three daughters, Sr. Ann Louise, SSND of Milwaukee, Kathleen Jagielo of Pittsville and Janet (Jeff) West of Pittsville; two sons, Karl Tasse of Middleton and Michael (Dawn) Tasse of Prior Lake, Minn.; eight grandchildren, including Renee Tasse, Connie and Dean Jagielo, Travis, Nicole and Troy Kumm, and Natalie and Nicholas Tasse; and one great-grandson, Logan Willis. He is further survived by one brother, Greg Tasse of Colorado, and two sisters, Delores (Joe) Czaikowski of Stevens Point and Innocence Rhodes of Marshfield.

Sylvester was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Ed Jagielo; two brothers, Cyril and Edwin Tasse; and a sister, Cecelia Weyer.
