Thorsten Brandmo (Thorstein Brændmo) had been a very successful photographer in Bodø, Norway from the 1870's until 1904 when he left Norway for America.  He first settled near relatives in Minnesota. He moved to Stanley in 1906. He died in 1912 and his son Emil Erick Brandmo continued as a photographer in Stanley.
