Degnitz, Carl (4 JULY 1884 - 16 MARCH 1937)
Carl Degnitz, son of Caroline and August Degnitz, was born in the town of Sherman, Sheboygan County on July 4, 1884, and died on March 16, 1937 at his home in the Town of Sherman Clark County, of cancer of the lungs. The deceased had reached the age of 52 years, 8 months and 13 days.
Funeral services were held at the Trinity Ev. Church in Spencer on Sunday afternoon, March 21st. at 2 P. M. the Rev. Staples officiating and burial was made in the Spencer Cemetery. The deceased was baptized on July 20, 1884 in St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherman Center, town of Sherman, Sheboygan County, and was confirmed April 3, 1898 in the same church, having lived in the Christian faith his entire lie. On April 17, 1911 he was united in marriage to Miss Frances Terke of Adell, Wis., where they resided for eight years. In 1919 they came to Loyal, Clark County, where they resided. Two years later they moved to Granton, Wisconsin where they resided for nine years, then moved back to Loyal on a farm where they resided at the time of his death.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his sorrowing wife and five children, Walter, Alvin, Elaine and Paul at home and one daughter (Anita) now Mrs. Walter Giloy of the town of Sherman, Clark County; 7 brothers and 2 sisters preceded him in death. He also leaves a host of friends who have our hearts sympathy in their bereavement.
Pall bearers were: Mr. Carl Moritz, Mr Tom Geisler, Mr. Lawrence Bowman, Mr. Henry Lemke, Mr. Alvin Haslow and Mr. Harry Grieves. Those who had charge of the flowers were: Mrs. Alvin Haslow, Mrs. Henry Lemke, Mrs. R. K. Stevens, and Mrs. L. E. Bowman. Relatives from away attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Degnitz, Mr. Louis Degnits, Mr. and Mrs. Aug. Degnitz, all brothers of the deceased and a nephew Mr. and Mrs. Walter Degnitz and daughter, of Adell: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Torke, parents of Mrs. Degnita; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Torke, Mrs. John Borkenhagen, from Adell: Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hass from Random.
