Kalata, John (1862 - 1939)
Funeral services for John Kalata, 76, a resident of the town of Thorp for the last 29 years who died at his home early Sunday, were held Wednesday morning from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in the town of Thorp, with Rev. Fr. Stanley Andreasowski in charge. Burial was made in the church cemetery. Death was attributed to heart disease.
Mr. Kalata was born 1862 in Poland and came to the United States in 1890. He settled at Scranton, Pa., and worked as a coal miner there for 20 years before moving with his wife and family to Clark County.
He is survived by his widow: Marcyanno; four sons, John, Jr.; and Steve of Chicago; and Charles and Harry, at home; and four daughters, Mrs. Minnie Kreuger, Miss Sophie Kalata, Mrs. Mary Ron, and Miss Rose Kalata of Eau Claire.
