Vetterkind, Emily (11 JUL 1932)
Alex Berg, 31, of South Milwaukee, and Emily Vetterkind, 17, of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), were married at Neillsville Monday.
A charge of abduction lodged against Berg because he permitted the girl to accompany him to South Milwaukee a week ago without parental consent was dropped and a marriage license for the couple was issued.
The happy ending was the result of a conference between Hugh G. Haight, Clark County District Attorney, and Atty. Cyrus Thieme of S. Milwaukee, representing Berg. The girl’s mother relented in her objection to Berg and it was arranged to have Court Commissioner Arthur E. Dudley of Neillsville, read the marriage service.
Miss Vetterkind attempted suicide twice since she was found with Berg in a South Milwaukee rooming house, but will suffer no ill effects, doctors said.
