Nowak, Eleanor (April 2, 1912 - September 10, 2006)

Eleanor Nowak, nee Klosowski, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2006, at the Memorial Health Care Center, Medford, Wisconsin.

Eleanor was born in Chicago, IL, on April 2, 1912. She married Walter Nowak in Lublin, Wisconsin on September 7, 1932. After their marriage, Walter and Eleanor made their home on their rural Withee, Wisconsin dairy farm until 1958. They then purchased and operated the Burma Inn, Withee, Wisconsin until Eleanor’s retirement in 1979.

Walter preceded her in death on January 9, 1979 as well as her parents, Walter Klosowski on February 11, 1965 in Walsenburg, Colorado and her mother, Anastasya nee Zdancewicz, in August 1948, in Lublin, Wisconsin. Two sisters, Lillian Bjornstad of California and Anastasia Jane Lencz of Walsenburg, Colorado; one brother, Walter Klosowski of Stetsonville; and one great-grandson, Mark Johnson of Germany also preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sisters, Jeanette (Jenny) Krieger of Hollywood, Florida and Minnette (Minnie) Galorawicz of Lublin, Wisconsin; one daughter, Louise Johnson of East Troy, Wisconsin; and six grandchildren: Jack J. Johnson of Hamburg, Germany, Jeffrey Johnson of East Troy, Wisconsin, Ann Marie Bakke of Howards Grove, Wisconsin, and Barbara Stuart of Lexington Park, Maryland. Also surviving her are twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter plus numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

At Eleanor’s request, in lieu of funeral services, a memorial service and reception will be held at a later date and location, to be determined by the family. Friends and relatives will be invited to remember the lives of both Walter and Eleanor Nowak at that time.
