Curtis, Cass V. (28 AUG 1848 - 23 NOV 1926)

Cass V. Curtis, a resident of this vicinity in the 1870’s, and a brother of Mrs. Hans Stuve, died at the home of his son Homer in Ladysmith on Nov. 23rd, 1926.

Mr. Curtis was born at Plainfield, Mass., Aug. 28, 1848, and came to Calumet County in 1857. Ten years later he was united in marriage with Miss Hannah E. Davis, and to this union were born three sons, namely, Home V., who resides at Ladysmith, Arthur D. of Harris, Iowa, and Lewis C., who, with his wife and mother, preceded the husband and father in death by a number of years. Mr. Curtis is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. H.H. Stuve of Humbird, and Mrs. Mattie Davis of Depere.

Deceased came to Humbird in 1869 from Green Bay, and made his home in this vicinity until 1883, when he moved to Boyd, which was his home until three years ago, when he went to Ladysmith to live with his son Homer, where he died. Burial was in Union Cemetery in Boyd.

Mr. Curtis was a veteran of the Civil War, being a member of the 51st Wis. Vol. Inf.
