Julia 'Julie' Jannene
COLBY -- Julia "Julie" Jannene, 80, of Colby, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006, as the result of a motor vehicle accident.
A celebration of Julie's life will be held at noon on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, at First United Church of Christ in Colby. Rev. Kenneth A. Dix will preside.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford, and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
She was born May 18, 1926, in Marshfield, to Fred and Elsie (Leiser) Huebscher. Julie married Ralph Jannene Oct. 12, 1950, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. They moved to Colby and raised four children. Julie has been a member of the First United Church of Christ and served as Sunday School Superintendent, member of Women's Guild, organized weekly greeters for 45 years and wore numerous other hats. After arriving in Colby, Julie was employed by the Harmony Co-op. In 1966 until 1990 Julie was a clerk at the Colby Post Office. After retirement she worked part time at Fiskars, Nichols Medical Transport and transported people for Clark County. She was a charter member of the Lioness. Julie also was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary, Clark County Historical Society and RNA Colby Camp 2666. Julie was honored as the 1991 Colby Citizen of the Year. She was a longtime solicitor for the annual Colby Community Chest. Julie also took part in the Telecare program and assisted with the Red Cross blood drives. In addition to these, Julie also maintained a round of visitations to the local nursing homes, elderly and shut-ins.
Julie is survived by her three sons, Ralph (Karen) Jannene, Burlington, Julian (Jayne) Jannene, Colby, and Dean (Gee Gee) Jannene, Janesville; daughter, Jana (Tom) Nomady, Mosinee; and seven grandchildren, Adam, Anna, Ashley, Cole, Jeramey and Garrick Jannene and Kyle Nomady.
Julie was preceded in death by husband, Ralph; parents; three sisters and one brother.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be designated in her name.
