Harold G. Mortimer

ROCK CITY , Ill. -- Harold G. Mortimer, 88, of rural Rock City died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006, in the Neighbors Nursing Home, Byron, Ill.

Harold was born July 1, 1918, in Clark County, the son of Ray and Hariah (Davis) Mortimer.

Harold and Vilma M. Bird were married April 16, 1941, at Neillsville, Wis. She preceded him in death on Oct. 24, 1996.

He was a 1935 graduate of Neillsville High School.

Harold and his wife lived in the Neillsville area until moving to northern Illinois in 1953. Harold was employed by Prairie State/Select Sires of Ohio for 24 years. Prior to that he was a milk hauler and a herdsman at various farms in Illinois.

He is survived by two sons, Rodney (Nancy) Mortimer and Kenneth Mortimer both of Rock City, Ill., two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.

At Harold's request, cremation rites have been accorded, and a private service will be held for the family at a later date. There will be no visitation.

The Daughenbaugh Funeral home, 115 S. West St., Dakota, Ill., is assisting the family with arrangements.
