Alfred Friedrich
Alfred Friedrich, 94, Edgar, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006 at Colonial Center, Colby. Funeral services were held Sept. 23 at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Edgar. The Rev. Al Houts presided. Burial was in the Edgar Cemetery.
He was born Dec. 17, 1911, in Dortmound, Germany, son of the late Herman and Bertha (Schon) Friedrich. Mr. Friedrich attended school in Germany for 11 years before his family came to America by boat. He then attended several years of school in the United States.
On Feb. 17, 1932, he married Esther Henke in Minneapolis, Minn. She preceded him in death on April 26, 1998.
Mr. Friedrich was a long-life Edgar resident and worked at the Ringle Garage, Krebsbach Service Station and Garage and for two years at Crestland following retirement. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mrs. Friedrich also enjoyed working on cars, boats, lawn mowers and going up North to their mobile home trailer in Woodruff for many years. He was a charter member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Edgar, where he held many offices and was a charter member of the Edgar Lions Club.
Survivors include his daughter, Arlene (Orville) Lieders, Colby; his son Arnold (Joanne) Friedrich, Wausau; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and his sister Bertha Rajek.
Besides his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by one son, Herbert; and one grandson, Todd Friedrich.
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar, assisted the family with arrangements.
