--Dodte, Esther L. (May 11, 1908 - September 26, 2006)
Esther L. Dodte, age 98, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006 at Neillsville Memorial Home.
Esther, the 10th child of Walter and Luna Sharp, was born in a log cabin near Cable, WI, on May 11, 1908. When she was eight, the family moved to Evansville, WI, where she graduated from High School at Evansville Seminary. The family moved to Neillsville, where Esther went to teachers training, taught in one room school houses for a time, then on to Wheaton College for a year. She returned to Clark County and taught another year.
On May 7, 1931 Esther married Bernard Dodte. The couple lived and farmed east of Neillsville for 57 years until his death in 1988. Esther continued living in the farm house until she entered Memorial Home two years ago.
Esther was an avid reader, wrote many stories, loved her home, garden and flowers, but most of all she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She is survived by two children, Lucille (Carl) Sharp, of Rice Lake; Thomas (Elida) Dodte, of Neillsville; six grand-children; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday October 7th at Living Hope Evangelical Free Church in Neillsville, Wis.
