Mavis Hotchkiss Raatz Augustine
Mavis Hotchkiss Raatz Augustine, 82, formerly of Unity and Colby, died Monday, September 25, 2006 at Three Oaks Nursing Home, Marshfield.
Visitation was from 10:00 until time of services at the church on Thursday. Marina/Community Funeral Home assisted the family.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 28, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Unity. Burial was in Colby Memorial Cemetery, Reverend Dale Wilford presided. Pallbearers were Allen Raatz, David Raatz, Tim Vedder, Randy Vollrath, Tom Shanks, Lyle Hotschkiss and Scott Breau.
Mavis was born February 3, 1925 in Marshfield to Joseph and Louise (Esbach) Hotchkiss. She moved to a farm in the town of Beaver, Clark County, with her mother, brothers and sisters. She attended Oak Grove School in the town of Beaver and Unity, Wis. High School.
Mavis and Edward Raatz were married September 26, 1941 and they farmed on the Raatz farm from 1941-1969. He died June 5, 1973.
She then married Marvin Augustine in 1974 and he died in 1997.
Mavis worked for Land O’ Lakes in Spencer from 1968-1986 when she retired. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Mavis enjoyed playing cards, bingo, fishing and camping.
Mavis is survived by her children, Edward (Ruth) Raatz, Marshfield, and Patsy (Duane) Sutte, Loyal; her grandchildren, Valerie (Scott) Breu, Auburndale and their children Ryan, Jared, Corey and Ashley, Alan (Terri) Raatz of Colby, David (Tracy) Raatz, Whiting and their children Michael and Natasha, Kim (Chad) Bushey or Twin Lakes and their children Kari Broome and Elizabeth Bushey, and Anita (Tim) Vetter, Phelps and their son Daniel; one sister, Janis Vollrath, Marshfield; and a step son, Dennis Augustine, Loyal and one step grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Edward and Marvin; her son, Lee Raatz, one brother, Lester; and three sisters, Violet, Dorothy and Carmen.
