Ralph W. Baxter

DORCHESTER -- Ralph W. Baxter, 82, of Dorchester, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, at the Clark County Health Care Center, Owen, Wis.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen, Wis. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Ralph was born July 3, 1924, in the town of Holway, the son of William and Laura (Woodward) Baxter. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, earning the purple heart.

Ralph and the former Adele Hemminger were married Dec. 28, 1942. They farmed in the town of Mayville. Ralph also hauled milk for the Dorchester Cheese Factory for 14 years.

He is survived by his wife, Adel Baxter of Dorchester; five sons, Ralph (Judy) Baxter of Fort Wayne, Ind., Ronald (Judy) Baxter of Owen, Dan Baxter of Dorchester, Gary (Tammy) Baxter of Eau Claire and Jack (Alice) Baxter of Dorchester; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Aurel Baxter of Curtiss; and a sister, Frances Reich of Cameron.
