Reindel, Gloria Miller (Marriage - 13 May 1939)
A pretty wedding took place Saturday evening, May 13, 1939, at eight o’clock at Saint Luke’s Evangelical Church, Chicago, when Alvin Gerald Thompson and Miss Gloria Miller Reindel, formerly of Neillsville, were united in marriage. The Rev. H. C. Guebert, pastor of the church, officiated.
Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Thompson for relatives and friends.
Mr. Thompson is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thompson, Sr., of Neillsville, Wis. He was born on a farm east of the city, known then as the M. C. Ring farm. Later his parents purchased a farm and moved to the town of York when he was about two years old. There he met Gloria Reindel. They went to school together and were school-day sweethearts. When his parents moved to Neillsville about a year ago, Mr. Thompson went to Chicago where he has been employed ever since. He is a fine young man, ambitious and dependable.
Mrs. Thompson is the only daughter and child of Mr. and Mrs. William John Reindel, and the youngest grandchild of the later Herman Miller. She was born and raised on a farm in the town of York and graduated from Neillsville High School in 1935.
She has a position as private secretary at Marshall Field’s store in Chicago, being an excellent employee. She is winsome and charming of manner, and in addition to these splendid traits, has a home training that fits her will for the new position she assumes.
Mr. Thompson was attended by his brother, Philip Thompson of Chicago. Mrs. Thompson’s only attendant was her aunt, Mrs. Ellen Miller Englund of Winnetka, Ill., who acted as matron of honor. The bride was lovely in a dark blue navy chiffon dress, and a large white picture hate, with accessories to match, her flowers were white gardenias. Her attendant wore a corsage of pink carnations.
They will be at home at 3643 North Claremont Avenue, Chicago, Illinois.
