Phillips, Olive (15 JUL 1899 - 21 JAN 1929)

Olive Fields, third child of Mr. and Mrs. Lemuel C. Fields, was born on the farm in the Tindahl district of the town of Cleveland (Jackson Co., Wis.), July 15, 1899. She grew to young womanhood in this vicinity, and on Oct. 8, 1919, she was united in marriage to Mr. Clarence Phillips. For a year following their marriage they lived at Ft. Atkinson, and for the past eight years their home has been near Neillsville (Clark Co., Wis.).

Mrs. Phillips passed away at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire last Monday forenoon about 10 o’clock. She was taken to the hospital suffering with appendicitis, for which an operation was performed on Jan. 11th. Not many days following she gave birth to a child, and the complications which arose caused her death, at the age of 28 years, 6 months and 6 days. Surviving are her husband, three children, Alma, Erlaine and the five-day-old baby; her mother, two brothers, Clarence and Thomas Fields, and one sister, Clara Fields. Her father passed away Sept. 27, 1928.

The remains were brought here for burial, services being held at the M.E. Church Thursday afternoon, Rev. E.A. Weaver officiating. Many friends gathered to pay their last respects to this much loved young wife and mother, and many floral tributes were placed about her casket. Burial was in Mentor Cemetery.

Those from away attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Woodford, Jr., Misses Agnes and Beatrice Pierce, Jacob Lightfoot, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Phillips and three sons, Mrs. and Mrs. Emil Sharrow of Eau Claire; Mrs. Bessie Sharrow, Mrs. Parkinson of Granton.
