Daley, Marie Ann (August 28, 1917 - August 8, 2005)
Marie A. Daley, age 87, of Thorp, formerly of Ellenton, Florida, died at Oakbrook Health and Rehab, in Thorp, on Monday, August 8, 2005.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday August 19, 2005 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, in Thorp with Father Keith Apfelbeck officiating. Burial will take place at Mansion Memorial Park, in Ellenton, Florida, at a later date.
Marie Ann Vaclav was born on August 28, 1917, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Jacob and Anna (Hovezak) Vaclav. She was raised and educated in Chicago, where she graduated from Lindblom High School. She was united in marriage to Wilbur A. Daley on November 4, 1939 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Chicago. Marie owned and operated a neighborhood grocery store, ‘Marie’s Food Shop,’ at Wieboldt’s Department Store, in Chicago, as a sales clerk and later was the assistant manager. In 1973, Marie, and her husband, Wilbur, retired and moved to Ellenton, Florida. Wilbur died on April 23, 1992. Marie continued to live in Florida until moving to Thorp, in 2000, to live with her daughter Mary Ann. She resided in Thorp until the time of her death.
She was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church. Marie was very outgoing and had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family, knitting, crocheting, bingo and baking.
She will be sadly missed by three daughters: Mary Ann (Bob) Lewandowski of Thorp; Jacqueline (Bob) Walters of Withee; Elizabeth Cichon of McHenry, IL; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Edward Vaclav of Lombard, IL and Daniel (Carol) Vaclav of Manteno, IL.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one son-in-law, Gerard Cichon.
Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
