Randall, James (6 Nov. 1842 - 19 Dec. 1908)
James Randall, one of the old and most respected residents of the town of Unity passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 19th after an illness lasting only one week.
A slight cold he contracted a few weeks ago developed into pneumonia and his constitution was unable to withstand the ravages of that dread disease.
Mr. Randall was one of the pioneer settlers of this section having came here over thirty years ago and settled on a piece of land in the then wilderness, from which he has since carved one of the best farms in Clark county.
He was born in Rutland, Vermont, Nov. 6th 1842. He served with distinction during the civil war. In 1875 he was united in marriage to Miss Harriett Powers whos (whose) death occurred May 2nd 1908.
He is survived by four sons; James, Hugh, Angel, and Samuel.
The funeral was held from the Beaver church Monday afternoon Dec. 21st with Rev. Householder officiated. Interment was made in the Beaver cemetery.
