Conklin Jack Milton, Sr. (March 16, 1910 - May 18, 2005)

Jack M. Conklin, Sr., age 95, of Thorp, died at Oakbrook Health and Rehab, in Thorp, on Wednesday, May 18, 2005. A visitation for Jack was held at the Thorp Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 24, 2005 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Burial of his cremains will take place at Butler Cemetery at a later date.

Jack Milton Conklin was born on March 16, 1910 in Colon, Michigan. He was raised by Homer and Bertha Conklin from the age of nine, and received his education in the Thorp area, where he graduated from Thorp High School in 1931. He was a Private in the Wisconsin National Guard, Calvary Division, from 1939 to 1940. Jack was united in marriage to Winifred Conklin on March 6, 1940. They lived south of Thorp. He was employed by Plautz Brothers Construction and was a cheese- maker at Blue Moon Cheese Factory in Thorp. His wife, Winifred, died on March 27, 1975. Jack resided with his daughter, Connie, for seven years before entering Oakbrook Health and Rehab in May of 1989. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Jack is survived by five children: Leslie (Amy) Conklin of Anaheim, CA; Judith Kesler of Lincoln Park, MI; Lila (George) Reed of Hurley, WI: Connie (Edward) Irish of Cadott, WI; Jack Jr. (Barb) Conklin of Orlando, FL; fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one granddaughter, Donna Mae Reed.
