Schroeder, Ruth (Marriage - 29 June 1939)

Miss Ruth Schroeder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schroeder of Tomah, and John Epding, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Epding, Sr., of Neillsville were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Tomah, June 29, at 9 a.m., Rev. J. B Brudermann conducting the double-ring ceremony. The bride was given away by her father.

Following the services, the wedding party went to the bride’s home, which was decorated in yellow and white, where the wedding breakfast was served to 35 guests.

The bride wore a gown of white organza and a finger-tip veil and carried a bouquet of sweet peas and baby breath. Miss Gretchen Malde acted as maid of honor. She wore pink taffeta with a bolero jacket. Betty Malde, dressed in yellow net over white and Valerie Lantz, who wore a white gown of silk piquet with red dotes, and a jacket, were bridesmaid. Both carried bouquets of blue delphinium. Norbert Schroeder, brother of the bride, was best man. Marlyn Schroeder, sister of the bride, was the ring-bearer. She wore white net over a blue slip. Another sister, Jeanette Schroeder, and Joan Favre, dressed in white taffeta, acted as flower girls. The bride’s mother wore blue chiffon while the mother of the groom wore blue silk. Roses were chosen as their flowers.

A six-o’clock dinner was served at the groom’s home in Neillsville to 45 relatives and friends, the house being beautifully decorated for the occasion and there was music throughout the meal time. Later in the evening a shower was given for the couple at the G. A. R. hall with about one hundred in attendance.

The bride was graduated from the Tomah High School and for the past four years has been employed at the court house at Sparta. The groom is a graduate of Neillsville High School. He has been employed by the Black River Box Co.

Out-of-town guests were: Mrs. Otto Gorski and family, Irene Kostre and Harold Schroeder, all of Chicago; Valiere Lantz, Milwaukee; Francis Kroener, Sparta; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wendt, Owen, and Mr. and Mrs. Eric Erickson, and family, Merrillan.
