YORK FARMER IS INJURED AS HIS TEAM RUNS AWAY
Merrill Vandeberg, about 30, town of York farmer, suffered a fractured right arm and a severe face laceration late last week when he was thrown from a hay rake as his team ran away.
Mr. Vandeberg, handicapped by a partial paralysis suffered as a child, was raking hay in a field a quarter of a mile from the farm house. Suddenly the horses started, throwing him from the rake into a washout in the field. A wheel of the rake passed over him.
Members of the family saw the horses as they ran into the barn with the lay rake. One wheel had been lost in the wild dash. They went to the field, where they found Mr. Vandeberg, and took him to a Granton physician. The arm fracture was reduced, and several stitches were required to close a severe laceration of the face.
Mr. Vandeberg is now recovering at his farm home.
