Nerdrum, Marion T. (March 19, 1916 - July 11, 2005)

Marion T. (Kiraly) Nerdrum, of W 11445 Pine Road, Stanley, WI passed away on Monday July 11, 2005 at Clark County Health Care Center in Owen, WI. She was born on March 19, 1916 in Jones County, Mississippi, the daughter of Frank and Rose (Bernath) Kiraly. The family moved to the Town of Thorp, Clark County when she was a young girl. She attended Roger Creek School, Stanley High School and Chippewa Falls Normal School to become a teacher. She taught in Eidsvold and Roger Creek Schools prior to her marriage to Ronald Nerdrum in 1940. They farmed near Cadott, WI until 1955 when they returned to the Stanley area.

Marion taught Title I at Stanley-Boyd Elementary School for 10 years. For 47 years she was the Eidsvold-Roger Creek news correspondent for the Stanley Republican and the Thorp Courier. Marion enjoyed people, especially small children. She had many hobbies, including crocheting, latch hook, embroidery and reading. Marion was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Stanley and a long time member of their women’s auxiliary, where her favorite times were visiting with other workers in the kitchen.

Marion is survived by her daughter Carol (John) Grover of Westby, Montana and son Ron on the family farm. She is also survived by one brother, Robert Dean (Jackie) Kiraly of Stanley, WI; a sister-in-law, Agnes Kiraly of Thorp, WI and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ronald in 2000; an infant son Gary Allen; sisters: Irene Monahan, Rose Markwoski, Anna Baldeschwiler; and brothers: John Frank Andy, Louis and Carl Kiraly.

Funeral services will be on Friday, July 15, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Alice Hamm officiating with burial in the East Side Cemetery both in Stanley, WI. Friends may call Friday from noon until time of services at the church.

Plombon Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
