Embke, Margarette (1 Jan. 1855 - 1939)
Margarette Petersen Embke, daughter of John and Elizabeth Embke, was born in Elsdorf, Holstein, Germany, January 1, 1855, and passed away suddenly with a heart attack in Elgin, Ill., where she resided at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ernest Wagner, for the last sever years. She was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed Church there. Her age was 84 years and seven months.
After spending her earlier years at the place of birth, she was married to Frederick Embke in 1879. The couple came to the United States in 1882 and settled in Bartlet, Illinois. In 1904 they moved to Clark County where they resided on a farm near Neillsville for 34 years.
She leaves to mourn her departure four sons, William, Henry, Louie and Herman, all of Neillsville and vicinity, and three daughters, Mrs. William (Hannah) Jahn of Stevens Point; Mrs. Ernest (Elizabeth) Wagner of Elgin, Ill.; ad Miss Emma Embke of Elgin, Ill., eight grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, John, and one granddaughter, Margaret Embke.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock from Zion Reformed Church, Rev. William M. Bixler officiating. Burial was made in the Neillsville Cemetery.
