Stockwell, Eugene B. (1901? - 3 Aug. 1939)
A message to Neillsville relatives last week announced the accidental death of Eugene Stockwell, 38, of Huron, S. Dakota, August 3, 1939. The young man was a freight conductor and was killed while switching trains.
Eugene was born at Bion, Wis., later going with his parents to Volga, S. Dak., where he grew to manhood. He enlisted in the aviation corps during the World Ward and soon after its close he was married. All through his childhood and young manhood he pain annual visits to Stockwell and Bruley families here and during those formatives years there was marked evidence of promising manhood in his quiet and mannerly nature- a fineness that grew through the years and was a part of him to the end.
He is survived by his wife, Esther Stockwell, and by his parents and two brothers, Donald, of West Virginia, and Carlos, of Boston. He was a nephew of Mrs. Samuel Cook and Arthur Stockwell of Neillsville and Mrs. L. Williamson and Mrs. Warren Bradbury of Mineral Point.
Funeral services were held at Volga Monday, interment being place there.
Dr. and Mrs. Warren Bradbury, who were visiting relatives in Neillsville when the message came, left at once for Volga to attend the funeral.
Other relatives in attendance were: The brother, Donald, and wife, Mrs. Grace Thomas; of Lisbon, N. Dak., and daughter, Mrs. Ray Jeffreys, of Fargo, N. Dak., and MR. and Mrs. C. D. Stockwell, Eau Claire.
