Benedict, Marian Edith (December 15, 1922 - November 6, 2006)

Marian E. Benedict, age 83 of Neillsville, formerly of Loyal, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital, in Marshfield, on Monday, November 6, 2006.

Marian Edith Peterson was born on December 15, 1922 in the Town of Levis, Clark County WI to Carl F and Annie L (Zunker) Peterson. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at rural country schools. Marian was united in marriage to Morvin W. Benedict on July 25, 1942 at York Center. She worked for the Loyal School District, as a cook, for many years, and retired as the head cook. They continued to live in Loyal until 2002, at which time they moved to Neillsville, Wis. Her husband Morvin died on January 20, 2003.

She was a member of the Loyal United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles, Packer football and Cubs baseball.

She is survived by one son, Gary Benedict, of Marshfield; one daughter, Sue (Emery) Gleason, of Missouri; eight grand-children; many great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Pat Benedict, of Black River Falls; and one brother-in-law, Leroy Collinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Morvin; two sons, David in 1945, and Kenneth in 2005; one grandson, David Benedict; and one sister, Arlene Collinson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2006, at the United Methodist Church in Loyal. Rev. Wendell Williams will officiate and burial will follow in the York Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, from 10 a.m. until time of service.
