Kurasz, Eva J. (October 6, 1915 - November 10, 2006)
Eva J. Kurasz, age 91, of Neillsville, died on Friday November 10, 2006 at Memorial Nursing Home in Neillsville, Wis.
Eva Durst was born October 6, 1915 in Fairchild, WI to James D. and Janie A. (Lightfoot) Durst. She graduated from Fairchild High School. Eva married William J. Kurasz on November 2, 1935 in Black River Falls. He died April 6, 1998. William and Eva farmed in the Town of Weston from 1942-1997. Eva was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, crocheting and fishing. Eva worked for Nelson Muffler for five years, retiring at the age of 62. She moved to Angelus in 2004 and to Neillsville Memorial Home in July of 2005. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Eva was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid.
Eva is survived by six children, James (Margie) Kurasz, of Dubois, WY; Dale Kurasz, of Forest Lake, MN; Edward (Carol) Kurasz, of Neillsville; Rosemary (Bernard) Murphy, of Greenwood; Lee (Joan) Kurasz, of Neillsville; Billy (Sue) Kurasz, of Dubois, WY; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Eva is also survived by eight brothers and sisters, Dorothy Sieg, of Black River Falls; James (Martha) Durst, of Neillsville; Leone Scholze, and Betty Marg, both of Black River Falls; Vivian Schuette, of Neillsville; Ivan (Gertrude) Durst, of Neillsville; Raymond Durst, of Fairchild; Ella Jean Scholze, of Rudolph; and one sister-in-law, Esther Kurasz, of Neillsville, Wis.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband; one son, George in infancy; one grandson, John Kurasz; two brothers, Virgil and Neil Durst; and one sister, Ethel Durst.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 14, 1006 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville, Wis. Rev. Timothy Biebert officiated. Music was provided by the organist and St. John’s School Choir. Burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Eva’s grandsons served as pallbearers.
Buchanan Funeral Home of Neillsville assisted the family with arrangements.
