GRANTON -- Russell A. Houpt of Granton, passed away Nov. 17, 2006, at the Neillsville Memorial Home.

A small memorial will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at 324 Oak St., Granton.

Russell was born Feb. 17, 1917, in Granton to Fred and Leona (Hazeltine) Houpt. He was a World War II veteran, who served and was wounded in the South Pacific. He was united in marriage to Pauline Ampe on Dec. 17, 1945.

Russell is survived by two sons, Verland (Debbie) Hammer, Rockford, Ill., and Roydean "Butch" (Lucia) Houpt, Marshfield; three daughters, Marggo (Ray Reinart) Young, Granton, Danna (Brian) Taylor, Strasburg, Va., and Pamela (Larry Woods) Mitchell, Middletowne, Va.; four grandchildren, Tammy (Terry) Hohenstien, Kerri (Greg) Gillett, Shanon (Tami) Young and Kevin Young; and five great-grandsons, Curtis, Joel, Brandon, Jeff and Jerry.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline; his parents, Fred and Leona; and his only brother, Harvey.
