Johnson, Mary (18 SEP 1937)
The following has been received from Everett, Washington:
A charming autumn wedding was held Saturday evening, September 18, at Immanuel Lutheran Church when Miss Mary Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Johnson, 1324 Oakes Avenue, became the bride of Delmar Buse, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Buse, 2928 Pine Street. Flowers in shades of rust and gold decorated the church where the Rev. Frederick Zehe performed the rites at 8 o’clock, the glow from burning tapers lighting the scene. Before the entrance of the bridal party, Miss Viola Domerude, accompanied by Mrs. Anna Rollins Johnson, sang "O Promise Me," and at the close of the service she sang "Ah Sweet Mystery of Life." The Lohengrin Wedding march was played by Mrs. Johnson as the bride and the bridal party left the church to the strains of "Oh Perfect Love."
The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Walter Johnson. She wore white satin with long train and her long veil of bridal illusion was held in place by a single gardenia. Her bouquet was of golden Ophelia roses and swansonia.
Her sister, Miss Marguerite Johnson was maid of honor, wearing rust satin in colonial style and carrying golden chrysanthemums and Tallisman rosebuds. The bridesmaids were misses Dorothy Belew, Olive Dickman, Lois Borchardt and Betty Thomas of Boise, Idaho, who were gowned alike in colonial models of gold satin with bouquet of rust chrysanthemums and golden Ophelia rosebuds. August Buse was best man for his brother and ushers were Fred Buse, George Earsley, Edgar Strege, and Lawrence Eggers.
A reception for 65 guests at Island View Inn followed the ceremony, the decorations being in rust and gold autumn blooms. Mrs. Johnson, mother of the bride received in a redingote of black and white print with an orchid corsage and Mrs. Buse, the bridegroom’s mother, appeared in black velvet with gardenias. Assisting were Mrs. Martin Strege and Mrs. Gerald Bauer of Seattle.
Mr. and Mrs. Buse left on a short wedding trip, the bride wearing a rust colored suit for traveling. They will be at home after September 26 at the Granada Apartments where they will reside while Mr. Buse completes his studies at the University of Washington.
