Mrs. Kate Haderer and Ollie Haderer of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Haderer of Moline, Ill., returned home Saturday after a four-day visit with relatives in Neillsville and vicinity.
A son, Franklin William Hraskey, was born to Mr. and Mrs. William Krasky August 17 at the Marshfield Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Schuster and Mrs. Edna Newell visited old friends at La Crosse and Onalaska Saturday. Miss Mabel Cannon, who lives at Onalaska, came home with them for a few weeks visit.
Dr. and Mrs. L. J. Kluchesky and her sister, Elda Foemmel, visited at Wautoma Sunday.
Attorney A. L. Devos transacted legal business at Milwaukee for the city of Greenwood last week, representing that city as its attorney.
Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Wilding and son, Buford and Miss Margaret Gemmeke of Greenwood visited relatives of the Wilding family at Marshfield Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Laurel Mayhew of Quincy, Ill., arrived Friday to visit at the farm home of Misses Bertha and Elizabeth Wnuczynski in the town of Levis.
Miss Ione Schwellenbach spent the weekend with friends at Rice Lake.
Miss Viola Schultz of Randolf is opening a beauty parlor at the former Mi-Lady location and will operate it under the same name. The room is being decorated in ivory and blue.
Mrs. Julia Lyons of Chicago came last week to spend a week or ten days with her son, Judson, and with friends, planning to go to Lake Nebegamon from here to visit her sister.
Robert wood returned home to Neopit Sunday. DeWayne Schweinler went with him for a week’s visit at the William Wood home.
Allen and John B. Kearney of Merrillan spent fair week with their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. William F. Hemp.
Mr. and Mrs. George Bell and sons, George and Hans, of Chicago, spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Degener and family. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Lindow, at whose home the Bell family had been visiting, came over with them.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gotchling of Hudson and Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Hardies and daughter, Kareen, of Altoona, were here for the fair and to visit relatives and friends on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Warren LaCroix of Chicago arrived Saturday for a weeks’ visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Moldenhauer. Willis E. Keller accompanied them to Wausau Tuesday to spend the day with relatives. Mr. Keller left Tuesday for Michigan after spending the summer here.
Frank Lange and Charles Wagner and son, Walter, spent the weekend with friends at Chippewa Falls.
Mrs. B. Lampland and daughter, Miss Ella of Hayward, Minn., spent from Wednesday to Saturday with the former’s cousin, Mrs. Mary Ruege, who makes her home during the summer with her daughters, Mrs. Herman Braatz and Mrs. Alvin Eisentraut. Mrs. Lampland, who is 90 years of age, and Mrs. Ruege, who is 83, had not seen each other since the former left Norway 72 years ago when she was 18 years of age. Mrs. Ruege and her nonagenarian cousin are youthful in spirit and remarkably spry and alert. They attended the Clark County fair together Thursday and covered the ground pretty thoroughly, enjoying it so much that they "stepped out’ again Friday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. John Mather, Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Mather and daughter and Miss Mabel Mather called on the Joe Cardarelle family Friday. They were on their way home to Minneapolis after attending a gathering of 161 relatives in Canada. Dixie Cardarelle went home with them for a visit.
Charles Poole has added a new enclose porch at the east of their house on South Grand Avenue.
Berton and Victor Wall of Evansville came Sunday to visit their brother, Floyd Wall, and other relatives.
The Robert Dux house on South Oak Street is being painted.
E. J. Lanam put a new asphalt roof on his farm house last week.
**[First part cut off.] Joseph Zilk and son, Glen, drove to Collegeville, Ind., early last week where they visited St. Joseph’s college, the young man planning to enter that institution this fall. They stopped in Milwaukee and Chicago on the return trip and attended the baseball game between the White Socks and the Detroit Tigers Thursday.
Mrs. Rose Eberhardt returned Friday from a four weeks’ trip to the west coast, driving a distance of 7,400 miles. Included in her party were her sister, Mrs. M. Ruoff, Minneapolis, two nieces, Lois and Elizabeth Hauser, La Crosse, and a friend, Miss June Smith, of Fond du Lac. They drove to Glacier National Park to spend a few days with Mrs. Eberhardt’s son, Adelbert, who is managing a store there this summer. They made a trip to Banff and Lake Louise, Canada, returning to the Park for a few days longer before proceeding westward over the scenic Columbia Highway. At Tillamook, Oregon, they stopped for four days with a sister of Mrs. Eberhardt and Mrs. Ruoff. Their next stop was at San Francisco where they spent several days at the Fair, also visiting Los Angeles and Hollywood. At the latter city they attended a band concert at the Hollywood bowl the concert being directed by Arthur Rodzinski, conductor of the Philharmonic orchestra of Los Angeles. Dalies Frantz was pianist, Boulder Dam, the Grand Canyon and Albuquerque, New Mexico, were also visited on the return trip.
