Heibel, William (26 Nov. 1859 - 24 Aug. 1939)

William Heibel, 79, of 138 North Hewett Street, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, August 24, at 1:30 a.m. after a three months’ illness with a kidney ailment and old age complications.

Mr. Heibel was born at Dodgeville, Wis., November 26, 1859, to John and Anna Heible. On December 25, 1895, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Spanswick at Persia, Iowa. Five children were born to them; Fred Heibel and Minnie, Mrs. William Wilsmann, Neillsville; Wm. Heibel, Milwaukee; Nellie, Mrs. John *Sheunig, Milwaukee; and Edith, Mrs. Fred Gorman, Omaha, Neb.. There are also ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, seven brothers: Samuel of Washington, Lawrence, North Dakota; Robert and George, Dodgeville; Edward, Minocqua; Adam, Forreston, Ill., and Leonard, Calif., and two sisters; Mrs. Rose McCormick, Dodgeville, and Mrs. Minnie Benefiel, California.

Mr. Heibel had been a resident of Clark County for fifteen years.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 26, 1939, at 2 p.m. at the Jaster Funeral home, Rev. Obed Asp performing the ceremony. The remains were interred in the Neillsville Cemetery.

William and Ben Wagner, Daniel Malamphy, Frank Reinhart, Frank Hemp and Everett Skroch served as pallbearers.

Out-of-town relatives and friends in attendance at the funeral were:

Ed. Heibel, Minocqua; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Heibel, Dodgeville, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Heibel, Forreston, Ill.; Mrs. Fred Scherf and daughter, Charlotte of Withee; Mr. and Mrs. William Joyce, Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Voight of York Center.
