Swanson, Virginia (11 JUL 1935)
In a simple ceremony at the home of the bride’s parents, Miss Virginia Swanson of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) and Kenneth L. Mathewson of Owen (Clark Co.) exchanged marriage vows on Thursday afternoon, July 11, 1935, with Rev. Gerald B. Smith, pastor of the Tabernacle of the Owen Gospel Mission officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Swanson, who live northeast of Withee, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Mathewson, residing south of Owen, Wis. Both young people are very well known throughout the Eithee-Owen territory, the groom being engaged in the oil business in Owenand the bride having taught school north of Withee during the past several terms.
Simplicity was the keynote of ceremony, decorations and bride’s gown and accessories. She was attired in a simple gown of shell pink and carried the usual bride’s bouquet.
Miss Lois Mathewson, sister of the groom, acted as maid of honor, and Don Mathewson acted as his brother’s best man.
Only the members of the immediate families were present at the ceremony, and a pleasing wedding supper was served before the couple departed for a stay of several days at a lake resort in Wisconsin.
Mr. and Mrs. Mathewson will be at home in Owen, having purchased property on the east side.
