Ellensohn, Dorothy (29 FEB 1936)
A quiet wedding was solemnized Saturday afternoon, Feb. 29, 1936, at two o’clock, at the German Lutheran Parsonage at Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), when the Rev. E.L. Wendling, read the service uniting Miss Dorothy Ellensohn and Peter Mertens Jr., in the holy bonds of matrimony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ellensohn of this city, and the groom the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Mertens of Withee. Mrs. Ellen Vetterkind, sister of the groom, and Raymond Miller of Longwood, were their only attendants. After the wedding the young couples returned to Owen, where a bounteous wedding dinner was served at the home of the bride’s parents, to immediate relatives and friends of the contracting parties.
At nine o’clock that evening a reception was given for the classmates of Miss Ellensohn, she having attended high school in Owen, Wis. The evening was pleasantly spent in playing cards.
On Tuesday evening of last week several high school girls gave a miscellaneous shower in honor of Miss Ellensohn. Many beautiful gifts were presented. The evening was spent in playing cards, after which light refreshments were served.
